Auto Cross Abcoude 2015

Around the Festival Week at Abcoude, the AutoCross is being held.

A great moment for every Local to meet old friends for a few beers. But it's not only drinking. The Drivers are mostly local, so the Spectators all know one or more Participants and keep on cheering from the first race at 12 o'clock till the final race at 18.30.

The last time I was there, must have been around 1974/1975. First visiting my Grandparents and the off to the Track with my Dad. Much has changed since then. Especially the safety is now much better organized. But the spectacle is still like before, or perhaps even better than before.

In the paddock you can see a mixture of high-tech and low-tech.

The Rescue Cars are all gathered before the Start of the Race.

And than at 12 o'clock the owner of the of Farmland, where the races are held, goes around the track waving the Flag.

And then: They are off! Everyone drives like there is no tomorrow. Really fantastic.

Some Action filmed, with a nice turn over by a big black old Volvo.

I almost forgot this Tradition: Crashing cars causing burning Hay Bales.

But at the End there is always a happy Winner. And like 2014 it was again Rene Kennis in his very fast and lowered VW Beetle.
